What Is a Travel Advisor?

Think of a travel advisor like your personalize travel coach or counselor. We help would-be travelers figure out how to build and execute the perfect trip. Some of our clients have come to us saying:

  • I want to go on a vacation but don’t have any idea where I should go.

  • I know where I want to go, but I don’t have any clue about how to make that happen.

  • I’ve got so many ideas about what I want to do, but don’t have any real perspective on whether that’s really doable.

  • I simply don’t have the time or energy do all the research to figure this out. I just want someone to simplify this process for me.

  • I’ve got a pretty good sense of what I want but need someone to help me figure out some key aspects.

If any of these resonate with you, then we’re here to help! We are travel experts who can help you turn your general ideas into actionable steps for creating your next big adventure.

How are you different from a travel agent?

As travel advisers, we develop client-specific advice and curated tools to empower our clients to be organized, capable, and flexible travelers who get the most out of their vacations. We give you all the building blocks you need to create and book the best trip yourself, but we typically do not make bookings for our clients. Instead, we offer options and how-to steps on organizing it for yourself. It is our experience that travelers both want and need some level of personal control over what’s happening and where they are going.

The traditional travel agents, on the other hand, sell specific travel accommodations, transportation, events, and tours. Travel agents work on commission – a commission that comes from vendors, such as hotels, resorts, tour companies, and the like. Their advice and offerings are often guided by—or limited to—the portfolio of commissionable partners they keep. Travel agents book tickets and make reservations on your behalf, which can be convenient. But it also keeps can keep you removed from the process and sometimes lacking control while on your trip.

As travel advisers, we are consultants who are paid directly by our clients to provide unbiased advice based on our own experience, research, training, and broad curiosity. Because of this, we have zero incentive to upsell our clients. Our compensation is not based on how much you spend on the trip. Instead, you pay us for the time and headaches we save you.
